About Us

Harmony of Color is a nonprofit organization formed in June 2009 by a group of Christian women who came together every Saturday morning with a yearning to paint. Otherwise restrained by daily labor and busy schedules, we decided to set aside time for creativity. We started sketching, drawing and painting, exploring a variety of mediums such as pencil, charcoal, water color, and oil paints as we put our artistic aspirations onto blank paper and canvas. The encouragement and advice of our members on those weekly Saturday morning meetings helped us become more audacious painters. Sharing our paintings and working together benefited us more than we had originally anticipated or imagined. Not only did our time together improve our painting skills, but we also gained confidence in our aesthetic senses and capabilities.

It is with these propitious results in mind that we've decided to share our work with the rest of the world in the hopes of inspiring others to also find time in their busy schedules to reveal their hidden talents and appreciate the peace and beauty of the world that God created, and discovering the harmony of color through our artwork.

My inspiration comes from the beauty of nature and my family. I feel a joy and peace when I observe the stage of ripening fruits, and various colors and shapes of blossoming flower. I feel serenity when I see and hear children play. I often imagine hearing the whisper from wildlife poses as if they have a story to tell. Through my painting, I want to express the harmony in nature and the humor in the circle of wildlife as those characters come alive in a comical tale.

I paint my experience what I saw, touched, loved, tasted, thought on canvas, which I desire to keep in my memory and share. I love to paint trees; especially the big and old ones. I believe that each tree has its own story. By just looking at them I can see how strong they are. They cannot move so they must endure and adapt to the weather that surrounds them. Through this process of constant change comes strength and a sense of intelligence. I love to paint trees to share their story.

I believe there is an artist in each and every one of us. The style of art is enriched by one's own culture and his/her own life experience. As an inspiring artist in my teen years, I had many opportunities to learn from different art teachers. But it is just a recent few years I discovered what the art truly means to me.

It is always emotion that I capture from the objects I paint. Reflected in my paintings are the transient perceptions of emotional empathy. I push my imaginations and ideas to the limit for opening up my mind to interpret my own experience into creative elements of art. My paintings start from the people around me. They derive from connections between people and all the mixed emotions of love, happiness, hope, sorrow, and pain. They represent the story of life and deliver memories of each moment that keeps our stories going on.

Ultimately the paintings are a visual record of an unplanned dialogue between myself and a blank canvas. The abstract paintings of Grace reflect the expressionistic energy and refined color sensibility influenced from Wassily Kandinsky, Piet Mondrian, Wolf Kahn, and Mark Rothko. Her abstract paintings are an expression of the inner place inspired from the open spaces in the natural world. Recently, her creativity is changing from semi abstract to non-representational abstract. Grace has spent most working in acrylic since she started studying abstract art the last 3 years. She loves working in both representational and abstract styles, but has narrowed her focus to mixed media abstracts.

Who am I? Where am I? Here, life on the islands is my reality, Here, by letting go and emptying myself one by one, I begin to see my lost dreams. I was a young girl and I was painting then,As winds touch the sea and create waves, My old dreams awaken me, and I stand on a happy path. Oh, here I see my dreams in my paintings! Now when I paint, I paint the dreams, Now when I paint, I become young again. It is a new beginning!
